Magnús Jóhann is an Icelandic pianist and composer, who, despite his young age, has explored a wide array of styles in his solo work and in his work as a session player and record producer. He is a prominent studio and live performer that has appeared on over 430 recordings and has composed music for film, theatre and more. He has released three solo albums, an EP and two duo albums. One with singer extraordinaire GDRN & one with jazz legend Skúli Sverrisson.

Equally adept as a composer, producer and keyboardist, Magnús Jóhann’s presence was a marker of quality on hundreds of contemporary pop, r&b and hip-hop recordings in Iceland long before his eclectic interests exploded onto ambitious solo albums spanning introspective jazz, timeless popular songs, dissonant string scores and oddball electronics.

His Nordic Jazz Comets trio, consisting of drummer Magnús Trygvason Eliassen and saxophonist Tumi Árnason, perform new material along with the music they worked on together for Magnús' 2020 record, Without Listening.

If your creative antenna is powered on, the most mundane things or activities can be sources of deep inspiration. I’m here seeking new opportunities, hoping to get my music heard by more people and getting to know more of my Nordic colleagues.
