Mona Krogstad is a saxophone player and composer based in Trondheim, Norway. She mainly works with jazz and rhythmic improvised music.

She released her debut album as a bandleader, Virgo Sun, in 2022. Through solid composition and lush melodies, the music creates a landscape that invites to improvisation and playful interplay. The music draws inspiration from the old jazz tradition and saxophonists like Wayne Shorter and Joe Henderson, but also from the modern and Scandinavian jazz scene.

Krogstad is known for her work as musician and composer in the expressive band JUNO. They released their critically acclaimed debut album Young Star in 2020 (produced by Kristoffer Lo) and were awarded "Artist of the Year" the same year by the Norwegian tabloid Subjekt.

Krogstad can also be found in projects with guitarist Hedvig Mollestad, Heidi Skjerve and the theater play Mother of a nation by Nosizwe Baqwa (swarded the Heddaprisen 2022 for best musical theater performance).

Getting the chance to play as a part of the Nordic Jazz Comets program is an important opportunity for us to meet new and interesting people, both musicians, fans and people from the music industry. It’s a chance for us to make new contacts and expand our pre-existing network.
